Data folder & image pack

Two boxes in columns 1–2 look after where the tool stores its data and the avatar image pack that the seeding/name-change flows need. These are things to set up correctly once, at the start, so a later Windows reinstall doesn't wipe everything.

Data folder

The Data folder box (hard-drive icon) shows where the tool stores its database, content packs and settings.

If the current path is on the C: drive, the tool shows an amber warning: reinstalling Windows will erase this data. Move it to another drive (e.g. D:) so it survives an OS reinstall.

Move data to another drive

  1. Choose a folder — Click Browse… and pick a folder on a non-C drive (e.g. D:\GAIO-Data). The path fills the New data folder field.
  2. Move — Click Move data here. The button is disabled until a folder is chosen, and while the move runs.
  3. Wait — Wait for Moving data… to finish.
  4. Restart — When it says the data was moved/switched, restart the tool to apply.

If the target folder already contains a data folder, the tool adopts it (it says Switched to existing data) instead of overwriting — this is exactly how you recover data after reinstalling Windows: reinstall the tool, Browse to the old folder on D:, click Move data here.

Image pack (avatars)

The Image pack (avatars) box (images icon) downloads the avatar and upload images the seeding/name-change flows use. The pack is around 373MB, so it's kept separate from the installer to keep the installer light. On the tool's first launch the pack downloads automatically — so the manual button is usually only for updates or repair.

The status shows Installed · NNmb or Not installed, and the button label changes with state: Download image pack (first time) · Update image pack (when a newer version exists) · Re-download (re-fetch/repair).

Since v2.0.32, the download shows a real progress bar that streams in real time: the %, the MB downloaded / total, and the current phase.

PhaseWhat's happening
PreparingGetting ready; asks the server for size & version.
DownloadingFetching the pack (the % bar advances).
VerifyingChecking the integrity of the downloaded pack.
ExtractingUnpacking images into the data folder.
DoneFinished — shows ✓ Image pack ready (N images).
  1. Open the box — Go to Image pack (avatars) and read the status (Installed · NNmb or Not installed).
  2. Click the button — Click the button for the current state: Download image pack / Update image pack / Re-download.
  3. Watch the bar — Follow the progress bar through Preparing → Downloading → Verifying → Extracting → Done.
  4. Wait — Wait for the green ✓ Image pack ready (N images) message.

While it downloads you can keep using the tool normally; switch to another tab and back and the progress is preserved. Existing images are never overwritten, so Update/Re-download is safe to click. The button is disabled while downloading or when the server is unreachable.
